Master's Study Programme International Relations

Characteristics

The International Relations Master´s Study Programme was accredited as the study programme of the 2nd grade in the study field 3.1.5. International Relations.

The Master´s Study Programme in International Relations provides students with knowledge from different fields of social-scientific branches related to the international relations in integrated form. This study programme is a follow up to the International Relations Bachelor´s Study Programme at the University of Central Europe in Skalica. The graduates of a bachelor´s study programme in the same field or in a similar one can be admitted to this study programme. Graduate of Master ´s Study Proramme of International Relations obtains the professional knowledge from the theory of international politics, international security relations, history of diplomacy, diplomatic protocol, communication and negotiation in international relations, foreign policy and diplomatic practice of the Slovak Republic; knowledge from the community and the union law of the Eropean Union, international commercial and economic law, international protection of human rights and international law of environment. For the needs of the practice, the graduate has a sound knowledge of international markting, international protection of intellectual property, preparation and financial management of European Funds Projects, project management, enterprising in the European Union, and from the sphere of cultural dimension of international relations. As far as language education, the graduate of Master´s Study Programme acquires the basic knowledge of the third foreign language and the professional terminology knowledge in the foreign language according his/her own choise. The graduate of International Relations Study Programme has a clear overview of the international relations sophisticated system; he/she is able to apply acquired knowledge in the sphere of international politics, international law and international business. Master´s study programme prepares graduates as qualified professionals for foreign politics institutions in the national and international bodies of the Slovak Republic, foreign commerce institutions, the state administration and local administration; especially in border regions. Graduate is prepared to work in the international institutions, organizations and integrated units, such as the European Union / EU /, United Nations Organization / UN /, North Treaty Organization / NATO /, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe / OSCE /, etc.
